I think I broke my toe. After the 7:30am start immediately after the 4:30am finish I was feeling quite tired by 5pm. Had a nap woke up ordered pizza. Thought I’d have my pizza and then Out on the Town! The second weekend of March has special meaning to a lot of Sri Lankans. It is the weekend on which the Royal Thomian cricket match is held. Also know as the “Battle of the Blues” aka the “Roy-Tho” aka “The Big Match” it is the longest uninterrupted school cricket match in the world. Eton vs Harrow has been running since 1805 but stopped for the wars, he roytho has been running since 1879. The only cricket match which has been running longer and uninterrupted is the Ashes. To understand why the RoyTho never stopped for the war you’d actually have to come and see one.
I had been in the country maybe 12 hours when I received an SMS that said “ROY-THO colts package RS3000 per person, all three days includes arrack/shandy/red bull/lime/joints pls inform me cheers! XX” I’ve withheld the name to protect the innocent. Read the rest of this entry »
